 Going to Chang Mai

Our visas would take alomst two weeks to be ready so we decieded to head up north. The way to go in Thailand is to bargin and go to 10 different places to find the best price, this can save you many baht but is also very tireing. We did well on this trip though. The bus to Chang Mai was a lovely 12 hour bus ride, however the bus was VIP standard. This means that it had aircon that worked, comfy seats, a toilet and a very bad movie playing with even worse sound. The lights were however turned off at 9 pm for ple to the see movie better and I who was reading got very annoyed...they were no reading lights. The bus left Bangkok at 6pm and was due to arrive the next early moring. Most of the ride was dull as most long bus rides are, with a few stops along the way and a few hours sleep on top of that. We rolled into the outskirts of Chang Mai around 06:30am, moved to an open truck and taken to a guest house in town. Some crazy ple were going trekking right away...freaks!!! We did the most sane thing, got a room and slept. Got up a few hours later, walked around the old town, we lived by Tha Pae Gate, on the east side. Decided very qyuickly that we were bored and booked the bus to Pai for the next day. The story of the beautiful mountain town follows.
